The Long & Long of it…
Long & Long CPAs started as a sole proprietorship by Virginia Long providing small business accounting.
As business grew, Virginia “Ginny” Long realized she needed a proper office and needed to advance her skill level with QuickBooks accounting software. She became a member of the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program and moved the business to a store front office in Pineville, NC. The business began providing an “All in One” solution for small business owners offering bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation.
In 2019 her husband (and former co-worker) Skip Long retired and joined the firm. The sole proprietorship became Long & Long CPAs, PLLC.
As of late 2022 expansion was in the air again with the addition of Matthew Long, yes another Long added to the team!
The Longs have since relocated and expanded their office to accommodate additional growth.

Virginia (Ginny) began her career with more than a half-decade of experience of public accounting with a national CPA firm. She then went to work for a client in the manufacturing industry as their assistant controller. From there she served as a controller of a medium-sized logistics company, then as a tax preparer of a large international company. She started helping church members and friends with small business accounting at her home after her children matured. She became a Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program Member. As a Intuit Certified QuickBooks Level 2 ProAdvisor, Ginny now provides company set up, payroll, inventory, sales tax assistance and more with QuickBooks Online & Desktop software.

Samuel (Skip) Long has over 35 years of experience in accounting and business management with a Bachelors in Economics, a Masters in Professional Accounting and an M.B.A. He worked in public accounting for over 10 years in the accounting and auditing division of a large national CPA firm and rose to the position of an audit manager. He left public accounting and became a successful Director of Finance for two large multi-office law firms. He retired in 2019 and joined Long & Long, CPAs.
His experience in industry includes budgeting and forecasting, cash management, managing employee benefit plans, supervising month end closings and working with auditors and tax preparers. He is enjoying getting back to his early roots in public accounting and enjoys working with small business owners.
Skip Long is also a Intuit Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor Elite.

Matthew graduated from UNCC in 2017 with a Masters in Accounting. He then went to work for a mid-sized CPA firm for 5 years.
As of 2022 Matthew has joined the family firm providing bookkeeping, accounting and tax services to individuals, small/medium-sized businesses and business owners. He is also a Intuit Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor Elite.
In addition to accounting and tax services, he provides controller services by reviewing financial statements with clients and providing training and support to their employees.

Emilie Long

Emilie graduated from UNCC in 2016 with a Bachelors in Accounting and a Bachelors Management Information Systems. While in school, Emilie worked in hospitality as bar manager where she refined her customer services and management skills. After graduation, she worked as a Tax Manager for another local Charlotte tax firm, before joining Long & Long CPAs in May of 2023.
Emilie is a Intuit Certified QuickBooks Level 2 ProAdvisor and is experienced in both QuickBooks Online and Desktop as well as various tax software. She currently assists our clients in all aspects of their accounting needs – including bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation.

Andrew “Drew” Newton, CPA
Certified Public Accountant, SC License #11381
Andrew (Drew) Newton graduated in August of 2023 from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Management.
Upon graduating, Drew went on to prepare financial statements and SEC disclosures for the largest bank headquartered in South Carolina. After 2 years, Drew decided to switch his career to focus on providing accounting and tax services to small and medium-sized businesses and business owners.
Drew’s experience in preparing and reviewing complex financial statements and accounting transactions makes him a great fit with Long & Long CPAs.
Drew is also a Intuit Certified QuickBooks Level 1 ProAdvisor.

Here are a few quick facts about us. We’re happy to answer any additional questions via phone or our contact page.
As members of the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program, we can help you remotely with accounting and bookkeeping, assisting you on your screen to resolve issues with your QuickBooks software.
Long & Long CPAs can personalize the level support and assistance you need for your business. We provide monthly bookkeeping support or as QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program Members we can setup, customize your accounting system and train you how to use it.
QuickBooks Online gives small businesses access to accounting professionals in a SECURE online environment. With two-factor authentication you can feel at ease accessing your data from multiple devices – even mobile – anywhere you have a connection.
As a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors we provide company set up, payroll, inventory, sales tax assistance and more with QuickBooks Online & Desktop software.
We prefer to help you online/remotely at this time and utilize Intuit’s secure server. We can also share screens and communicate through email and phone. For new clients we prefer to meet in person in our office for the initial meeting. Masks are required and hand sanitizer is available.
You can come to our office or we can come to you! Having an on-line accounting system makes it easy and secure to work around your needs and schedule.
